Description

Daimler Sovereign, series 2, SWB, MOD

The connoisseur will be wide-eyed at these abbreviations. SWB for "short wheel base" and MOD for "manual with overdrive" will make your heart beat faster. Jaguar/Daimler produced the short version of the XJ for just under a year, i.e. until autumn 1974, and then used the chassis for the coupé. Just 842 cars were delivered with a manual gearbox. It is estimated that there are only about 20 roadworthy cars left in the world. It is not for nothing that exactly this vehicle graces the cover of the Daimler Lanchester Owners Club (DLOC) on Facebook and on its homepage.

Thus, this vehicle is an absolute rarity that also offers great driving pleasure. With around 51,000 miles (or 82,000 km) on the clock, it was brought to Switzerland in October 2021 in order to have the various work that was due done here done by a specialist.

In the run-up to the (passed) veteran's examination of 07.07.2022 intensive research was carried out together with the Road Traffic Office. Only one single certificate of such a vehicle was found in Switzerland. However, without any further history. Accordingly, it must be assumed that the other vehicle no longer exists and thus our vehicle is the only one still roadworthy in Switzerland. Of course, this Daimler has a production certificate from Jaguar/Landrover. It doesn't get any more exclusive than this! The original number plate from England, as well as the corresponding documents (V5, MOT reports), are also still present.

This Daimler with its extensive history has been saved from the fate of its fellows, the slow decay, and can now please a new enthusiast.

The vehicle can be viewed by appointment by telephone.
This is a private sale without guarantee and warranty. Trade-in for a coupé or convertible with a veteran's certificate, preferably a Triumph TR3, Alvis or MGA, may be possible.
